Saleae Logic - Logic Analyzer

thumbGot my Logic from Saleae today. It's a very nice, high quality tool for a pretty reasonable $150. The software is super easy to use and navigate, and great looking. I'm very happy with it so far.

As well as just general logic reading, it also has modes for RS232 Serial, I2C, 1-Wire and SPI. There will probably be more added. Saleae provides an SDK for those who want to write their own applications for the tool.

18F248 w/A6276 and 2-digit 7-seg LED
thumbI recently ordered some Allegro A6276 LED drivers and wanted to try one out. The resulting project was fun to build, educational and will be useful in future for something, I'm sure. I used another el-cheapo obsolete 18F248 SOIC chip and an SOIC A6276 on a DipMicro PB4 board. The displays are Lite-On LSHD-5601 .56" green common-anode.

2-Wire LCD Interface

thumbMyke Predko described this 2-wire LCD interface on his site. (Myke's site is gone - go to Rentron's Myke Predko page now). It uses a 74LS174 Hex D Flip-Flop wired as a shift register, with a sneaky method of using the sixth flip-flop and the data bit to do the E line. I built one and wrote some C code for it. Works well.

18F248 Clock/Thermometer

thumbI wanted my breadboard freed up from serving as a clock/thermometer, so I decided to build a permanent one. I had bought a couple cheap and obsolete 18F248 SOIC chips and had a PB-4 Proto-Board at hand, so I went to work.

4x4x4 LED Cube with 12F509 & MM5451YN
thumbI was following this thread at electro-tech-online.com and decided to build a new, bigger LED cube. I'm controlling it with a PIC 12F509 and a Micrel MM5451YN. I'm using the bare-bones 12F509 only because that's what the original poster in the thread was using.
